Matt has informed me that our baby's cochlea is forming right now.
I don't know how many of you recall our experience with snails about 4 years ago, but we had a fish tank with loads of teeny tiny snails. No matter what we did, we couldn't get rid of them. They took over the whole tank.
Well, now all I can think about is all these teeny tiny snails, and how that is what the insides of V's ears are looking right now!
In case you aren't following this post at all, the cochlea is the inside of your ear that is shaped like a snail.

It's not shaped like a snail yet. The cochlea has 2.5 coils in it, but at this time there is probably only 1 coil. By the 11th week the 2.5 turns will be there. At 5 months the cochlea is the size it will be for the rest of his life. The inner ear is the only sense organ to reach full adult size at midterm, However it is still possible for the cochlea to be malformed or be susceptible to acquired disease, like CMV. At 22 weeks the fetus is begining to hear sounds.
LOL, that is one way to think of it ;)
When my snails get to be to much, I get out the spoon and start making a snack for the other fish ;) It is when they get to the top of the waters edge that they reproduce, so the other thing I do is knock them down!! :)
I have a BUNCH of them right now!!
